Green Peach Aphid
There is currently a large flight of green peach aphids in southern Australia that is colonising horticultural crops. The number of aphids is much higher than I have seen in most years.
Along with the aphids there are also large numbers of aphids predators and parasites which will help in controlling them.
If growers are concerned and want to use an insecticide to control them then my suggestion is to use one that will kill aphids but not the beneficial species. That way the control will be additive. If a broad-spectrum insecticide is used then it will kill the beneficial species but probably not all the target pest and could actually make the problem worse.
